SQL Reporting Analyst

Thompson Habib Denison (THD) is a leading direct marketing agency specializing in the development and execution of integrated fundraising programs for some of the largest nonprofit organizations in the United States and Canada. Because of continued growth in our Analytics Group, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a SQL Reporting Analyst to join our growing team of professionals. This is a great opportunity to utilize your analysis, technical and business experience to develop strategic reporting used by THD’s account staff and our clients to optimize marketing efforts.

The SQL Reporting Analyst will work collaboratively with THD’s account staff to define, code and deliver ad-hoc analyses that drive integrated marketing strategies and improved program performance. In this role you will also be expected to provide documentation, explanation, and verification for reporting results.

The right candidate will have a deep capacity to understand THD’s clients’ needs, programs and data as well as possess the ability to translate those needs into technical specifications, SQL code and ultimately strategic reporting. As a key resource supporting colleagues and clients, you must maintain a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The SQL Reporting Analyst must have a demonstrated track record of manipulating and analyzing data with a variety of database software tools as well as being able to identify, understand, and interpret marketing implications. Possessing a curiosity to explore large quantities of data and resolve data issues is a critical attribute for an individual in this role.

Additionally, as a member of THD’s Marketing Analytics Team, this individual will be involved in building solutions and processes that are efficient, repeatable and scalable.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with account staff to define ad-hoc report requirements, code in SQL the report solution, test for quality control and review final results with the end user to ensure requirements were met.
  • Support the efficient delivery of standard and ad-hoc reporting with an emphasis on automation where possible.
  • Partner with account management staff to understand THD’s clients’ businesses and programs.
  • Execute regularly scheduled job streams that generate marketing reports and files.
  • Support THD’s predictive modeling business by creating analytic datasets, coordinating 3rd party data appends and scoring files.
Required Experience & Skills:
  • 3+ years of SQL report development experience (queries, functions, stored procedures, etc.)
  • 3+ years analysis experience working with customers to define business requirements and translating those requirements into technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of marketing concepts.
  • Experience working in direct marketing, CRM or marketing analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to convey complex reporting requirements and processes to marketing staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel® (including charts and pivot tables).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment coordinating and prioritizing multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Superior attention to detail and quality control skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Database Marketing Analyst

Because of recent client expansion, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Database Marketing Analyst to join our growing team of professionals. The Database Marketing Analyst is responsible for executing regularly scheduled job streams that provide marketing reports and files used by THD’s account management staff. Additionally, this individual will work collaboratively with THD’s account management staff to define, code and deliver ad-hoc marketing analyses that drive integrated marketing strategies and improved program performance.

The Database Marketing Analyst must have a demonstrated track record of manipulating and analyzing data with a variety of database software tools as well as being able to identify, understand, and interpret marketing implications. Possessing a curiosity to explore and resolve data problems is a critical attribute for an individual in this role.

Additionally, as a member of THD's Marketing Analytics Team, this individual will be involved in building solutions and processes that are efficient, repeatable and scalable.

The Database Marketing Analyst's initial focus will be directed toward the technical execution and delivery of marketing reports and files. Future growth opportunities exist for the individual in this role to become more involved in marketing analysis, building predictive models and providing strategic recommendations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Execute regularly scheduled job streams that generate marketing reports and files.
  • Define reporting and analysis requirements in collaboration with THD account management staff. Create technical specifications and code new reports and existing report enhancements.
  • Design, develop and produce reporting deliverables utilizing database software tools.
  • Support THD's account management staff by providing ad-hoc reporting.
  • Support THD's predictive modeling business by creating analytic datasets, coordinating 3rd party data appends and scoring files.
  • Present results from reporting and analytic projects to account teams.
Required Experience & Skills:
  • 2+ years experience working in direct marketing, database marketing, CRM, or marketing analysis.
  • Proven ability to retrieve and manipulate data from large databases using SQL.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to interpret analytic data and understand strategic and marketing implications.
  • Ability to convey complex requirements and analytic processes to marketing staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel® (including charts, pivot tables, macros, etc.)

Account Executive

Manage the execution of direct mail campaigns on behalf of 1-2 nonprofit clients. Initiate strategy sessions and provide input to team for developing strategy. Assemble samples, past results, current strategies and other materials necessary for strategy development. Monitor campaign process and coordinate the efforts of production/creative to ensure quality service to clients. Manage list plan order and deliver to ensure accurate quantities and on-time schedules. Coordinate copy and design with copywriter, designer and client. Prepare reports on campaign results and program metrics. Initiate and distribute weekly status reports and ensure successful client communication.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 0-3 years marketing and/or communications experience, preferably in marketing. Knowledge of database marketing/fundraising and account management preferred. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills. Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.

Account Manager

Manage marketing and fundraising programs for several nonprofit clients serving as key client contact. Participate in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns by providing analysis, strategic and creative input and database consultation. Work directly with nonprofit clients on a daily basis to advise, recommend, update and report on their fundraising campaigns. Lead campaign strategy sessions, review previous results and current testing. Review and critique list plan and approve merge/purge instructions to ensure all client mandatories are met. Manage all vendor relationships and ensure standard reports are developed and distributed on regular basis. Develop annual program budget. Manage workflow of Account Executives as necessary.

Requirements include Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years experience in direct mail, fundraising and nonprofits. Proven analytical abilities, understanding of database tools. Production Coordinator

Manage the successful production of direct mail campaigns for 2 or more nonprofit clients. Create and maintain campaign schedules. Develop print specifications and work with vendors to obtain pricing quotes. Manage all internal communication with Creative and Account Management teams. Provide proofreading and quality control to ensure accuracy. Work with lettershops to ensure successful production and track inventory. Complete proper postal and nonprofit paperwork.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 1-3 years direct mail production experience required. Knowledge of postal regulations. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite and be extremely detail oriented. Must have outstanding problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.

Production Manager

Independently manage the production of fundraising programs for multiple clients by working with the Account Manager, Creative and outside vendors in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner. Develop, review and approve annual schedules. Manage all internal and external communication and identify areas of concern in the production process. Develop campaign budget estimates based on vendor quotes. Oversee campaign follow-up including sample distribution, inventory disposition and reconciliation of final invoices with original bid and budget estimates.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 7+ years direct mail production experience. Supervisory experience required. Must have outstanding problem solving and written/verbal communication skills and solid negotiation skill. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite; knowledge of Adobe InDesign preferred.
